it might be over an hour to travel to work, there is never any parking in the summer, but scenes like this make living at the seaside worth while.

there is nothing better than a steady ride out along the coast with a nice brew.
It makes a refreshing change from the through and off no talking outings on a wednesdays and sundays.
The great thing about Bridlington Cycling Club is the number of riders that are available to share a ride at any time of the week.
Times are changing within the club with the departure to foreign fields of the clubs talisman but the club is beginning to readjust.
There is some serious training going on in readiness for that starting gun on the seasons first time trial
Its good to try new things even when you start to get on in life. Its also good to be scared sometimes as well, and that's what happened to me last week as eventually let Steve persuade me off the beach and on to his catamaran.
In what seemed like a gale force wind steve set up the boat and we pushed it off and instantly we were going way too fast! It didn't seem to take long to be miles off shore in my mind , but under captain wateralls expertise i never felt like i was going to die, well at least until he had shown me how he could get it up onto one hull then control it with out capsizing.
The best fun was when i went on the trapeze and used my weight as balance as we cut through the choppy waters of bridlington bay.
2hrs seemed to fly past and apart from the massive dead leg received after slamming into the side of the boat i got back in one piece and really enjoyed the experience.
am currently looking on ebay for my very own dry suit.
Forget the mysterious crop circles and the ancient Stonehenge, Bridlington has its own unexplained formations.
These strange white stone circles and mounds appear on the beach between May and August Bank holiday and co-incide with the influx of visitors from the West Riding of Yorkshire.
As the tide goes out and washes away the detritus that the hoardes leave behind, these strange symbols remain for weeks!
No-one knows why they build them or what they mean. Which comes first the stones or the wesies?

Sat with my back to the sea , with a small plastic cup of bubbly in one hand and one with whiskey in the other , all the places on the map were south of me. Just 5 days before on a cold windy and wet day with my back to the sea all points in front of me were north. Less than 48hrs actual pedalling and 877 miles had brought me and 4 others from Lands End to John Ogroats.
Strangely there was a little sense of being underwhelmed as I sat in the grass in the sunshine watching other End to Enders roll or walk in. A feeling that it should have been more difficult , should have been more exhausting was just under the surface and I was finding it hard to come to terms with it all being over.
For 12 hrs a day for the last ten days all that had occupied my mind was turning the pedals over and making sure that I didn’t catch the wheel of the man in front. Distances in miles were converted into time in the seat, how long till the next stop, how long till the next town, how long until the end of the day.
The aortic explorer Roald Amundson said an adventure was just bad planning and I think that was what the feeling I was experiencing was. The sense of adventure was missing because of all the hard work we had put in the 9months beforehand. All the meetings, the accommodation booked in advance, reliable support vehicles and helpers, no injuries or mechanicals, everyone fit enough to do the miles. All the planning had done its job and made an epic journey seem easy.
Once I had realised this I felt a sense of pride in myself and the rest of the people involved that had taken the time and effort in the previous months to plan for all eventualities and to make sure we all arrived in John O’Groats healthy and together.
Heres hoping the next adventure is as much of a disappointment.

Our club seems to be attracting all sorts of new people, from ex MotorCross super stars to mythical creatures.
Imagine our surprise while out watching the East Yorkshire road race on Sunday when we saw this little fella hiding in the shrubs.
He looks like a mixture of a few club members, he has the body fat of Compo, the face of Jeff and Martins legs. Although he weighs more than Chris J he might be the one to push Tommo close in next years Time Trials.
