just adding the finishing touches to the kitchen.
Congratulations to Mr Compston. Its good to know that the tips and advice that he dishes out can work if applied as well as he does. Talk the talk and walk the walk.
Chapou
With less than two months until the big event, Bank Holiday monday saw an intrepid 5 cyclists setting out for a training ride to test out weather we had bitten off more than we could chew. An early start saw jeff knock on the wrong door in my street thats why he gained the Superman pants for dickhead of the day ( sponsored by Tommo). He cemented his right to wear them after only managing 5miles before stopping to strip off all his gear coz he was too hot.
The route took us north towards Whitby were we had planned the first stop. Unfortunately Cindy underestimated our progress and didnt catch up with us in the broom/food wagon until just outside Guisborough. A quick stop then we were off towards Great Ayton but battling a very stiff head wind. One of the lessons was learned on route to the lunch break in the picturesque village of Great Ayton as the gang split up while waiting for Gentleman Ian to join us for a few miles. Almost an hour was spent regrouping and and eating. Just after restarting we had the big climbs to conquer towards Helmsley. Jeff surprised everyone with the ease he knocked these off and we were then cruising towards York, Dugglby then home. The only downer was the incessant rain that dogged us from the last but one stop just south of Helmsley. It was great to be able to get into dry clothes and have a warm drink at North Grimstone with only 30miles left,Cindy kept us well fed and watered all day. We got into brid after a little diversion around Thwing to make sure Graham got the 150 he had set his heart on.
We learned a few good lessons during the long hours in the saddle, mainly that we are all capable of doing the miles every day, we need to stop together and Adam is a very touchy boy when he is tired and hungry.
despite then wet conditions and the fact that this picture looks like Big G is in a break away of four, the first Thursday Road Race was a big success for Team Bridlington, with both Martin and Compo finishing on the first 20 and Graham and Steve finishing strongly in the bunch. The next race is on the same course and hopefully the Team will have a few more riders to try and boss the race and we will get there in enough time to sign on and start in the proper groups!
Having won the BCC superman pants on the last day of the Majorca trip, sunday was the first time that they got their uk debut.
It was supposed to be a sunday club ride, but when Andy Askwith turned up on his Time Trial bike and Mr Cockerill started to organise through and off, i knew that itwasnt going to be a pleasant meander through the yorkshire country side.
Just after this picture the leggings were off and it felt great to have the sun on my legs for the first time in this country this season.
Everyone on the ride and most people in the club are itching for tuesday nights first club Time Trial.
There is the fight for the two leagues, individual competitions, old guard against new boys, new bikes and wheels against tried and tested frames, and the most important fight... to see if you can post a better time that last season
Good luck to every one on tuesday night
