With the weather being as cold as it is, its been time for the turbo to get a good hammering. To help to pass the time and to take my mind off the pain and suffering I like to watch old Tour De France Vhs tapes bought cheap off Ebay.
not much to write about today, monday fronts at work, freezing cold journey there and back, minus 6 this morning!
The only thing that cheered me up today was tucking in to a little piece of Cindy's Banana cake disaster.
As a post script, flipping Morrisons have put up their price of biofuel by 7p to110.9 the same as the normal diesel. Not very green of them.
Yet another snowy day on the last day of the holidays. This lot fell at around 11am in the space of less than 30mins.
IT has been a very cold xmas and new year, reminding me of the times when i was a kid and winters seemed to be more snowy more often. Was this the case or was it just that we enjoyed the snowy days that much as kids that is all we can remember and chose to forget the gray, wet and rainy days?
It is a measure of how grown up you are as how you view snow, if your face lights up and you try and slide down the road like me then you are still keeping that inner child alive, but if you moan and worry about not being able to drive then you have turned into a bah humbug.
one of the best things about living at the seaside is the ever changing scenery and all the interesting things that you find on the beach.
Some times it is a stark reminder of mother nature, weather it is a live sea bass with its eyes pecked out by the seagulls or like the picture a dead porpoise. The tape on it was put on by the coast guards to let people know that it had already been reported.
Darwin didnt know what to make of it, and was straining at the bit.
This was darwins first xmas with us and i bet he wondered what all the fuss was about.
The house was full of new people and smells for most of the last two weeks and his favourite seat was taken all the time.
I have only made 2 resolutions for the new year but they will both take some doing.
1) post an entry on here every day as a diary of 2010
2) keep an online training diary on www.apyatez.wordpress.com
the new year hasn't started well though with me crying off the New Years Day ride with a slight hang over. But i didn't wast the time as i went for a great walk on the beach with Cindy and Darwin in the biting cold, while the rest of the house guests slowly dragged them selves out of bed and into the land of the living.
Just as i had resolved to go out in the afternoon with Mr Wartyballs it began to snow, so i cried off again and went out with Alex, Cindy, Elaine, Adam and Tegan onto the beach again.
A very relaxing but cold start to the new decade but not so good if i want to be the best cyclist I can be.
Ah well, there is always tomorrow, as long as it doesn't snow, or is too icy, or windy , or ......
It had been 2 weeks since i had been out on my road bike, but boxing day morning was very cold with a blanket of freezing fog. It was enough to keep away all but the hardest of the clubs cyclists. After a quick ride up to the Dottrel , myself and Fisherman " i swim in the sea on xmas day" Dave cut our losses and headed back via Buckton and Bempton
The duck pond at Buckton looked like it had been frozen since the last ice age, it proved irresistible, i just had to test it.
Luckily it could take my 80kgs but Dave wasn't willing to give it a try.
Lets hope that the weather warms up a bit for the New year so we can burn off all those extra calories.
it might be over an hour to travel to work, there is never any parking in the summer, but scenes like this make living at the seaside worth while.
This picture was taken on the north beach walking towards sewerby at around 5pm on an early november evening
there is nothing better than a steady ride out along the coast with a nice brew.
It makes a refreshing change from the through and off no talking outings on a wednesdays and sundays.
The great thing about Bridlington Cycling Club is the number of riders that are available to share a ride at any time of the week.
Times are changing within the club with the departure to foreign fields of the clubs talisman but the club is beginning to readjust.
There is some serious training going on in readiness for that starting gun on the seasons first time trial
